Young artists from across Southwest Florida were invited to express what America at 250 meant to them and reflect on themes that included family heritage, community pride, creativity, courage, and culture. This exhibit will be on display at the E. George Rogers Studio.

What started as a celebration of the “end of season” transformed into an almost fifty-year-old tradition to pay homage to the locals of Naples, Florida. Explore the many themes and awards that captivated participants and onlookers of the Great Dock Canoe Races. Also learn how and where the races operate today!

Florida Freedom Tour will roll into Naples!

Join us in continuing to celebrate Americas 250th Anniversary by exploring unique artifacts and displays from the Museum of Florida History. Collier County Parks & Recreation will host this traveling museum on wheels at North Collier Regional Park.

The Wit & Wisdom of C.G. McKinney – Sage of Chokoloskee

August 20, 2026

Museum Manager Thomas Lockyear will celebrate the life and work of one of the region’s earliest pioneer settlers: Charles Greenleigh McKinney. McKinney established the area’s first post office, was a registered midwife as well as a de facto dentist, and wrote a regular column for the American Eagle newspaper rife with wry wit that earned him the honorific moniker of “Sage of Chokoloskee”.

Preschool Program: Mini Monets

August 26, 2026

Pablo Picasso said, "Every child is an artist." Bring in your mini-Monet to create a mini-masterpiece using watercolors and the inspiring works of Monet or local artists who have long used the Florida landscape for inspiration. Learning basic paint brush strokes will encourage fine motor skills. We'll develop visual perception skills identifying shapes and primary and secondary colors!
