13th Annual Collier County 4-H Livestock Show
January 17, 2019 - January 19, 2019
The show is a countywide competition for 4-H youth to exhibit their livestock projects such as rabbits, poultry, goats, swine, breeding cattle and steer. Everyone is encouraged to come out and watch the competitions and learn more about livestock production and show.
On Saturday January 19th at 7:00pm all market swine and steer are auctioned. Bids are placed per pound of the animal; additional add-ons can be given to the market exhibitors to help fund their projects. Various gift baskets and desserts will also be auctioned off to raise money to support future shows. Funds are due at the end of the auction unless arrangements are made with the sales management prior to the auction.
The purpose of the livestock show is to teach youth the fundamentals of good stock husbandry, to provide a wholesome product to the consumer by educating 4-H market livestock members on food safety awareness, to emphasize production and quality in farm animals, to stress the breeding of better livestock, to demonstrate the finer points of fitting showmanship, and to provide recognition and a fitting climax to each year’s efforts.
Gates will be open for the shows at 6:00 pm Thursday and Friday and 9:00 am on Saturday.
