Join us for a talk by Sally C. Stein, Director of Public Programs at Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Learn how and why National Audubon Society came to be a leading conservation organization with its start in the early 20th century. Find out the history of National Audubon Society’s local Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, such as why it is called Corkscrew, early uses of the land by native people and early settlers, early protection efforts, how and why it became protected in 1954 as an Audubon Sanctuary, and more.
