We’re excited to announce Collier County Museums’ new Homeschool Day program! Three times a year, we will be hosting a day where homeschoolers of all ages will be able to come for free educational programming geared toward their specific age groups. We will have preschool, 1st-3rd, 4th-5th, and middle/early high school appropriate activities based on that Homeschool Day’s theme. With a focus on combining history and STEM (we like to call it SHTEM!), Collier County Museums aims to provide your homeschooler with a holistic approach to learning about our region’s history. Homeschool Days will cycle through our five museums, so your family has an opportunity to get to know all of them!

Fall 2022’s Homeschool Day will take place at our Collier Museum at Government Center and is inspired by its special exhibit, From the Great Lakes to the Sunshine State: Exploring the History of U.S. 41. Preschoolers get to experience a retro Florida road trip, with crafts inspired by Florida roadside attractions, classic car games, road themed skill-building and STEM activities, and stories. 1st-3rd and 4th-5th will be focused on map and geography skills geared toward their respective age groups, as well get to do some Florida tourism crafts of their own. Middle/Early High Schoolers will be learning about how the construction of US 41 through the Everglades changed everything about this natural resource, as well other general civil engineering-based activities.
