Event Series:
Third Thursday Lectures
In the Path of the Park
May 18 | 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Museum of the Everglades Manager Thomas Lockyear will recount the stories of some of the families and individuals who lived and worked in the area Now designated as Everglades National Park – discussing how the creation of the park impacted them and the adjacent communities of Everglades City and Chokoloskee. While many local residents still harbor ill feelings and enmity toward the Park Service today, much progress has been made in building bridges and working together to preserve this last bastion of “Old Florida” and the natural beauty of the Everglades. Join us in learning from the past in order to build a better future.
