Lecture: Vincent Keeys – A People Mover System at the Turn of the 20th Century
March 4 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
After graduating from the oldest African American institution of higher learning, Cheney University of Pennsylvania, Vincent Keeys started with The Budd Company in 1977.
Keeys, like many African Americans, saw the railroad as the best alternative to escape either agriculture or domestic service. The railroads were the most important industry for African American job opportunities.
Join Keeys for a look at some luxurious trains made by George Pullman, The Budd Company and Bombardier passenger railcars–cars that were moving pioneers across the world from 1860 to 2000.
