Our Stories, Our Voices: A Family’s Story

July 11, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Mary Louise-Martin Hill and Voncile Whitaker are mother and daughter and long-time residents of Collier County. Mrs. Hill moved to Collier County in 1952 where her daughter, Voncile was born. This mother-daughter duo will discuss over 60 years of life as African-Americans living in Collier County. This will include living in the Dupont Community, segregation and integration, and being long-time employees of the City of Naples, Collier County Schools, and the Rod and Gun Club.

Our Stories, Our Voices is a new series in the Collier County Museum lecture series. Native or long-time residents of Collier County will discuss their experiences living in here and how the area has changed.
