Nancy “Safari Jane” Tetzloff traveled the world photographing landscapes and their inhabitants. Working side-by-side with her husband, Larry, she created two zoo facilities and became a dedicated museum professional. In 1969, the Tetzloffs started the The Naples Zoo, which became a fully accredited organization. Early on, Nancy was one of a handful of women in the zoo field, but throughout her years of work, she hired many young women and helped to change the field . Nancy retired in 2004. Today, the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens is celebrating 50 years of being a zoo. Nancy’s son, Tim, serves as the Director of Conservation.
