Our Stories, Our Voices: Nancy “Safari Jane” Tetzlaff

July 10, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Nancy “Safari Jane” Tetzlaff traveled the world photographing landscapes and their inhabitants. Working side-by-side with her husband, Larry, she created two zoo facilities and became a dedicated museum professional. In 1969, the Tetzlaffs started the Naples Zoo, which became a fully accredited organization. Early on, Nancy was one of a handful of women in the zoo field, but throughout her years of work, she hired many young women and helped to change the field. Nancy retired in 2004. Today, the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens is celebrating 50 years of being a zoo. Nancy’s son, Tim, serves as the Director of Conservation.
