Stories of a Sportsmen’s Paradise: A Folk Art Experience
March 11 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
An event every 2 weeks that begins at 5:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until April 23, 2021
Step back in time at the Museum of the Everglades, where you’ll hear rich stories of how the Ten Thousand Islands became a magnet for avid anglers and enthusiastic adventurers—including why Everglades City just might be the birthplace of the modern fishing lure. But this experience offers much more than fanciful fish tales. Step behind the scenes with the museum’s curator, and explore an exclusive archive of previously unseen works of local folk art.
To complete your adventure, each participant will create their own rustic masterpiece—no talent or training required. This immersive experience redefines how stories are told, releasing untapped creative instincts and bringing your inner artist to light.
$35 per person includes intimate guided tour, exclusive access to rare artifacts, and the opportunity to make a piece of personal folk art (all materials provided).
All participants should provide a photo or other image – preferably in a digital format – for their personal folk art project in advance of the event. Instructions for this prerequisite will be included on the emailed receipt when tickets are purchased.
