We Never Left: Jessica Osceola

November 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Jessica Osceola, Seminole Tribe of Florida, will discuss the figure in clay from the exhibit We Never Left: Artists of Southeast Indian Tribes and how it relates to identity and motherhood. The figure is stripped down to show vulnerability rather than cloak the emotions with clothing. Throughout the figure are many symbols that hint at culture, identity, status, and roles. Jessica draws from both her Seminole heritage and her upbringing as an American. This work is part of a bigger series that deals with stripping away the misconceptions and judgement of the human.

Free admission. Limited seating, RSVP below or call (239) 252-8242.
