Join us for this combination celebration of the 76th Anniversary of the Completion of the Tamiami Trail and the 26th “birthday” of Museum of the Everglades (opened on the 70th Anniversary of the Trail in 1998) – a fun-filled afternoon with live music, complimentary hot dogs, and the only laundry cart races in the country!
9:00am – Complimentary Early Bird Walking Tour
10:00am – Welcome Ceremony with prayer, opening remarks from the Friends of the Museum of the Everglades president and a reading of Barron Collier’s historic Tamiami Trail speech
11:00am – Laundry Cart Races
11:30-12:30 – Free Hot Dogs
12:30pm – Free Birthday Cake
1:00pm – Old Timers’ Talk with Franklin Adams, Arita Parker and Carolyn Thompson moderated by Bob Wells
“Spirit of the Glades” – a local acoustic duo – will play a variety of bluegrass and comfortable country with an Old Florida feel throughout the event. Classic cars from local auto clubs will be on display along the boulevard across from the Museum.
